JORGE DAVILLA

Strategic Thinker, Consultant, Financial Manager, Facilitator

Jorge Davila was born in Tampico, Mexico. He graduated in 1974 from the Tecnologico de Monterrey, where he served as full time professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. After that, he moved temporarily to the USA to obtain an MBA from the University of Houston, with a concentration in Finance.

His professional career includes working for Acumuladores Mexicanos, Gruma , Grupo Cydsa and Grupo Imsa, which covered several industries: chemicals, plastics, food, construction and steel. His last position was as VP of Administration and Planning for Grupo Imsa's Steel Sector, where he played a key role in the valuation, acquisition and integration of several companies in Mexico, USA and Central America. He also conducted feasibility studies for projects related to steel processing in different parts of the world.

Jorge has worked as functional and general management executive, being responsible for large projects as well as having during parts of his career the responsibility for the bottom line in business units. He describes himself as "excellent for bringing out the best from people and creating a team working environment during difficult transitions". His main professional interests and passions are Strategic Planning, Business Development and Human Resources. His experience in dealing with acquisitions involved the financial aspects of the transactions as well as redefining strategies, implementing large changes in policies and organizational structures and getting people from different backgrounds and cultures to work together effectively.

Jorge is an active member of the Mexican Institute of Financial Executives, the Industrial Chamber of Nuevo Leon State, and has collaborated with the Nuevo Leon State authorities in an Advisory Group for promoting foreign investments and creating industrial clusters. He is active as a member of non-profit organizations, such as Ingenium, which provides support for families with mentally-illed members, as well as Church groups.

In his free time, Jorge enjoys playing alto sax, writing poetry and spending time with his family, where music, literature and movies are shared passions.
