Barbara A. Collins
Global Partner - Consultant - Facilitator - Trainer
As a senior strategy consultant, Barbara Collins partners with client organizations to envision their desired outcomes, develop strategic plans for change and, most importantly, effectively implement their plans.
Certified by the Haines Centre in Strategic and Systems Thinking and Reinventing Strategic Planning, Barbara has been providing organizational change and management consulting and training since 1982. She serves as lead facilitator for delivery of one- to three-day Systems Thinking and Strategic Management workshops for such clients as the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO), Avon Products, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Chubb Insurance, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, and Montgomery College in Maryland. In addition, she co-facilitates the Centre's 40-hour Gold Mastery Certification Programs in both Systems Thinking and Strategic Planning and Management with Steve Haines. Barbara recently achieved certification as a Strategic Management Professional through the Association for Strategic Planning.
Barbara's recent projects include facilitating the strategic planning process with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals plants in Puerto Rico, Bridges Consulting (an IT firm), the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (water/wastewater utility) in Maryland, and Loudoun Water in Virginia, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. She worked with a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland to deliver products and services more competitively. Using adult learning principles, Barbara has designed and delivered more than 100 training programs over the last 30 years, including The Systems Approach to Solving Problems for Avon Products, Asia-Pacific Region in Shanghai, China, Coaching Skills for Managers for Benjamin Moore Paints, Building Management Training Capacity for the U.S. Dept. of Justice National Institute of Corrections, Customer Service Skills for the San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department, Training for New Detention Facility Inspectors for the National Institute of Corrections Jails Division, and Serious Habitual Offender Comprehensive Action Plans (SHOCAP) for The International Association of Chiefs of Police & OJJDP. Recently, she's been developing and facilitating e-learning programs for the National Institute of Corrections, including Jail Data Analysis and Objective Classification Systems, and for the National Partnership for Juvenile Services.
Barbara is active in the Association for Strategic Planning, the Mid-Atlantic Facilitators Network and the Chesapeake Bay Organization Development Network. She's a founding member and past president of the national Juvenile Justice Trainers Association and currently serves as its project manager. In addition, she's President of the board of the International Association of Correctional Training Personnel, and led development of its Correctional Trainer Certification program, for which she won the President's Award for 2009.
A graduate of Manhattanville College with a B.A in Social Psychology, Barbara also holds a M.S. in Education from the State University College at New Paltz, NY.
